GLASSCOCK ISLAND GUIDELINES FOR EMPLOYEES AND GUESTS

Guest Supply List (pdf)

NEW GUIDELINES FOR 2007/2008 SEASON!!! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

I am pleased to announce the opening of scheduling of the facilities at Glasscock Island for the 2007-2008 season. In conjunction with starting our new season at Glasscock we have made some changes to the scheduling and accounting processes. In addition, we have revamped and updated our Glasscock Island website with detailed information on scheduling and accounting procedures for our use of the facilities.

In preparing for this season, we have conducted a detailed review of utilization trends and costs for operation of the facilities. As a result of this review, we have established new price points for the most common uses of the facilities. For the 2007-2008 season, we will be accounting for use of the facilities as follows:

1. $40 per hunt (morning or afternoon) or per day for fishing;
2. $70 per night for lodging and meals (all inclusive);
3. $310 for hunting or fishing package (which includes two nights lodging and four hunts or three fishing days).

We believe that breaking down the accounting will provide our guests with greater flexibility in scheduling their use of the Glasscock facilities.

We are also changing the accounting procedures for the new season and will be allocating the costs of use directly to the operating company associated with the guest. For physicians and their immediate families, the cost of use will also be accounted for in the ACT database like before. If any physician exceeds our limit for non-monetary compensation in the ACT database, they will be invoiced for the excess costs. For LHC employees, the cost of use will be allocated to the agency’s or facility’s employee benefits cost centers. I want to stress that employee’s will not have to pay for use of the Glasscock facilities.

We look forward to a successful new season at Glasscock Island!

Things YOU need to know before submitting schedule requests:

The LHC Group Lodge at Glasscock Island is closed from Sunday at noon until Tuesday at noon – every week. Therefore, no guest will be allowed at the lodge between these time periods. Guests will not be allowed to arrive at Glasscock Island until noon on Tuesday when the lodge reopens.

Guests can be scheduled for hunting trips anytime between October 1 and January 31. Reference “HUNTING SEASON” sheet / link for game and weapon season dates.

Guests may be scheduled for one of the two following trip scenarios:

  • #1- Tuesday (noon) to Thursday (noon)*
  • #2- Friday (noon) ** to Sunday (noon)*

*Guests may elect to leave earlier than the scheduled departure time, but no guest may remain after the scheduled departure time.

**exceptions can and will be made in accordance to arrival times on Friday. We realize that some guests may not be able to make an early arrival time due to work schedules.

In the event of high water, trips may be cancelled. When the Mississippi River reaches 46ft. on the Natchez gauge, the island’s access roads are under water, therefore cutting guests off to the Lodge. If this situation occurs, guests will be offered other available dates for later in the season (if available).

LHC Group Glasscock Lodge is a co-ed facility. Men and women can both be scheduled for hunting trips. All guests are to be made aware of these circumstances and act in a professional and respectful manner at all times during there stay.

All food, beverages, and bedding are supplied by the Glasscock Lodge. Guests should not worry about bringing these supplies. Guest, however, should bring the following:

  • toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc….)
  • gun(s) and ammunition
  • proper footwear (chest waders for guests planning to attend duck hunts / knee boots for deer hunters)
  • comfortable camouflage clothing (warm clothing in the event of extreme cold forecasts)
  • flashlight(s)
  • small carry / game bag for box stand and blind supplies
  • face mask (camouflage)
